Today I have been mostly tidying up my workroom

I am very untidy. It's a fact. However, today I thought - I can't go on anymore. With help, I have now completely tidied up my sewing room and it's fab. Since I have been doing a load of sewing, I realised I MUST be more organised.
SO here are some pics..... This is before ( a bloody mess)

And this is after :-)

I need some praise, so I will send one of my handmade corsages to the person that leaves me the most sarcastic piece of insincere praise.

This is a photo of my little favourite items on my shelf....

The evil smurf was a present from my friend P, it's great.

Here are some more of my favourite things. My small Sylvac Bunny collection. I don't know why I like them because generally I don't like ornaments and especially animal ones...but these little critters just get me every time (not that I can afford to buy them any more - they're too expensive these days!)

My lovely shower - it's like heaven.

And finally my two favourite Scandinavian things. My Tomte and my Moomin.

That's more than enough pictures I think. Night night.

You asked for it.......

Right, stop the nagging. I have caught up with all my pics and even added a few you didn't want to see. So here you go.....

1. Especially for you Gigibird - here is the plastic spider that lives on my vine that has a REAL spider living inside it. Unfortunately he was not at home when I took this but his web is there.

2. This is my pet crow. He likes sitting on my kitchen shelf. He's great.

3. This is the start of my order for Made in Hastings for the Country Living Fair in November. 25 down, 15 to go! Boy my fingers are sore :-)

4. Here are my charity shop buys. The skirt was £2, the boots (Diesel) were £3, the Poole Pottery Cheese Dish was £3.50 and the fabric was £4.

And finally.....yesterday evening at around 6.30pm, the sky was a really freaky colour so we took photos from the roof - these are a pretty good match for the real colours and it was very very weird - look at the sun!

Not really much other news, been VERY busy at work so my sewing is getting behind. I wish there was more hours in the day that's for sure. Thanks for all the comments on my last posts, I will get round to visting you all very soon.
The other thing is that I am looking forward to Hastings Week in a couple of weeks. We are booking for a torchlit tour of the caves and then there is a huge bonfire preceeded by a torchlit procession through the streets, so if you live nearby, come and join in - it's on 13th October.
Apart from that, been very lazy. Actually slept in the guest room last night because I couldn't be bothered to make the bed in my room. Slut? Moi?

Charity Shop Bargains and Salt in the Wound....

Hello all,

This weekend I went to Lincolnshire to visit my folks. They've recently moved there. It's not an area I know, but I found it to be very pleasant, especially the charity shops.

My haul was as follows:

  • 1 pair of brand new DIESEL biker boots - £3
  • 5 yards of beautiful very fine 100% wool vintage English checked fabric - £4
  • 1 embroidered skirt made by Nomads - £2
  • 1 cone of 100% Linen yarn ideal for my loom - 25p
  • 1 Funky Retro Teal Blue Poole Pottery Cheese dish - £3.50

I am extremely pleased with that. The boots in particular. They have a label in them that says 'Sample - not for sale'. They are chunky and gorgeous and never been worn. Ideal for weekends in the winter walking on the beach.

Apart from that I picked up some fabulous shells on the beach at Anderby Creek.

The Salt in the Wound is that in this months issue of Coast - go to page 58. That was the house I was originally going to rent. Put a deposit down and then they said they'd changed their minds and were going to sell. I think they did. That article is an exact copy of one that was in the Mail on Sunday which they showed me when I went to look round a whole year ago!. I was really upset about it at the time, but I much prefer where I live now. Maybe they didn't move in the end after all?

Anyway, that's all from me. Am busy sewing so I can't sit here gassing all day!!!

Chuffed

My stuff is going down a storm at Made.

Also got a big order for them to take to the Country Living Fair as well - so I have got TONNES of sewing to get done by the end of October - no sleep for me this month then.

From a very happy Devil.

So Chuffed

I just want to say that I have heard from Made today and I have sold loads - I am so pleased. They have also placed a nice big order for the Country Living Fair in November so I am even more pleased!

An Envelope Full of Gorgeousness.....

Today in the post I received a lovely needlecase that I bought from Florence Hope. It's really cute and it was beautifully labelled and packaged. Thanks so much, it made my day!

I've been working on my new maxi-bag range as well. Am very pleased with the results, will post up pics when I've taken some! Have been sourcing some lovely linens lately and am just waiting for postie to arrive with more parcels.

On a domestic note, just bought Nigella Express as I watched it last week and am desperate to try the caramel criossant thing she made - YUM.

Had a yearning today for Sweden and remembered the time I went Cloudberry picking in the swampy forests in the north and made Cloudberries and Cream for pudding. One day I will live there in a lovely wooden house........I can dream can't I?

Looking Forward to the Weekend

I am so looking forward to the weekend. I just want to get in my sewing room and get started. I have so many ideas and just not enough time to realise them all. I am really into Linen at the moment and have a new range of 'Naturals' being worked on.

Also have a Chaise Long to cover and 2 armchairs but they have been on my list since March.......

The Chaise cost £35 from a shop in Hastings Old Town and I am covering it in a gorgeous raspberry red GP&J Baker fabric called 'Peony and Blossom'. It's gonna look super sexy when it's finished. I did take some pics at the beginning but I've lost them somewhere so will post some up later. Pictures aren't my strong point.

I am really wanting to go back to Sweden again. I miss their Liquorice Ice Cream - it's the best! This is me at Ales Stennar, it was so peaceful.

Been reading and discovering some new blogs lately and I do find you bloggers so inspirational, when I am feeling a bit unfulfilled, it's so nice to see how many talented people there are in the virtual world.

I am really loving working on my Love Bunnies at the moment. They give me such pleasure as they are all different and each one has it's own personality. Monique and Dylan are shown below. My friend Annie laughed her head off when I told her I was enjoying my Love Bunnies, she thought it was some kind of sex toy........

On a more ridiculous note, to satisfy my craving for clogs, I discovered that Crocs are doing a special furry lined winter version, so I have of course put my pre-order in......I just can't help myself.

And finally.......if you haven't heard 'Bat For Lashes' yet, I strongly suggest that you do. Their Mercury nominated album 'Fur and Gold' is brilliant, my favourite tracks being 'Trophy' and 'Sarah'.
Enough ramblings for now.

Website is now LIVE!

My website is finally live! It's taken me a while but I got there in the end. There are still some things to add, but they are going on as we speak.

I am pleased with it for now......I like changing things you see - it's very annoying.

Anyway, if you fancy a look - it's here http://www.thedevilmakeswork.co.uk

Apart from that, nothing much going on at the moment. Very busy lately - feels like my holiday in June was years ago now. Could certainly do with another one.

See you anon.
